Heather Elliott-Famularo, Director, Producer, Editor
Heather Elliott-Famularo is committed to researching and exploring cultural issues in her work. Her current work, and first feature-length film, Bearing Witness: The Voices of Our Survivors
, is a documentary that captures the stories of the Holocaust survivors in Toledo, Ohio. This compilation of survivors' stories includes the voices of the young Jewish youth of the local synagogues. Elliott-Famularo was awarded a competitive fellowship at the Institute for the Study of Culture and Society at Bowling Green State University to complete the film in 2011. The film was also awarded several grants.
Elliott-Famularo is a Professor and Chair of Digital Arts at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Art and Technology from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA in Art Media Studies from Syracuse University. In addition to teaching digital art and video courses, she has produced several award-winning promotional films for non-profits and organizations. As an artist, she creates video installations for galleries and alternative exhibition spaces. She has exhibited in IDEAS10: Art and the Digital Narrative
in Vancouver, the SIGGRAPH 2005 Art Gallery
in Los Angeles, and numerous national galleries and festivals.
Angel Vasquez, Producer, Executive Producer - Docuality Network LLC
A Princess Grace Foundation Film Award recipient, Vasquez screened
internationally and is recognized for his experimental film works
and his "911" film A Change of Faith
. As executive
producer of Docuality Network LLC, his credits include Sale Barn
(PBS-WGTE), Turning Point
(WGTE-PBS), and Bearing Witness: The Voices
of Our Survivors
(PBS-WGTE), a documentary featuring stories of
Holocaust survivors (official selection of the Palm Beach
International Film Festival) . He associate produced on Colma: The
(Roadside Attractions/Lions Gate) and was the line producer of
Cachao: Uno Mas!
(PBS-American Masters Series).
Angel Vasquez began a career as public relations specialist with
duties as photojournalist and graphic designer for the U.S. Air Force.
He has worked on more than 20 independent short films, in addition to
television and theatrical feature-length documentary and narrative
productions based in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. He has
crewed on numerous productions teams for content produced for USA
Television, Discovery Channel, California Highway Patrol, and Genuis
A Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts Cinema graduate from San
Francisco State University, Vasquez has been an educator for more than
five years, specializing in the areas of film producing,
cinematography, post-production, visual effects, and arts management.
He is a National Association of Television Program Executives Fellow
and a member of the National Academy of Television and Sciences.
Hindea Markowicz, Executive Producer
As Director of the Ruth Fajerman Markowicz Holocaust Resource Center of Greater Toledo, Hindea Markowicz is the initiator of the Bearing Witness
project. Her responsibilities include being the primary information and educational resource and organizing locus for Holocaust-related activities in Northwest Ohio for educators, students and organizations. She initiated and organizes the Mayor's Annual Diversity Day Program and organizes the annual Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance Day activities. She is a sought after speaker on this topic. She is the winner of a Jefferson Award in Toledo, a Women of Toledo Honoree, and recipient of the Hadassah National Award for Excellence in Women's Health Education for the "Check It Out" Program that she brought to the greater Toledo area. She graduated from The Ohio State University in Political Science with an Art minor, and has done graduate work at Northeastern University, Capital University, and the University of Toledo. She formerly was certified to teach History, Government, and Political Science at the secondary level.
